Unemployment
In Q3 2025, the ILO unemployment rate stood at 7.7% of the labour force. It rose very slightly over the quarter (+0.1 points), bringing the year-on-year increase to +0.3 points, thus reaching its highest level since Q3 2021 (when it stood at 7.9%). The year-on-year increase in unemployment reflects sluggish growth in employment (51,000 net jobs were created over one year, after +214,000 a year earlier), while the labour force continued to rise sharply (171,000 additional workers over one year, after +246,000 a year earlier). In Q3 2025, the labour force participation rate for 15-64-year-olds therefore remained very high at 75.2%, which is just below its historical peak since INSEE began measuring it (1975), recorded in Q2 2025...
