In Q1 2025, the ILO unemployment rate stood at 7.4% of the labour force, virtually unchanged from the previous quarter (+0.1 point) and year on year (7.5% at the start of 2024). It has fluctuated between 7.3% and 7.4% since Q2 2024. This relative year-on-year stability in unemployment is the result of a sharp slowdown in employment (43,000 net jobs were created in one year, compared with +243,000 twelve months earlier), coming at the same time as a slowdown in the labour force (60,000 more people in the labour force in one year, compared with +387,000 twelve months earlier).
