Inflation rekindled and growth weakened Economic Outlook - march 2026

In Q4 2025, UK growth remained modest (+0.1%), confirming the slowdown that began in Q3. This weak growth was due to limited domestic demand, particularly from the private sector. Household consumption slowed (+0.2% after +0.4%), while corporate investment plummeted (-2.7%), as did residential investment following a strong Q3 (-2.1% after +3.5%). Conversely, activity was boosted by public spending: public consumption and, most strikingly, public investment rose by 0.3% and 10.4% respectively in Q4. Exports declined (-0.6%), while imports rose (+0.8%), resulting in a negative contribution from foreign trade to GDP growth (-0.4 percentage points)...
