In November 2025, the total number of business births — all types of businesses combined and seasonally and working-day adjusted — rebounded (+0.4% after -1.1% in October). Registrations of self-managed micro-entrepreneurs picked up (+1.5% after -2.5%), conventional sole proprietorships remained almost stable (-0.1% after -2.7%), while company creations fell back (-2.0% after +2.9%). In raw data, the total number of businesses created over the past twelve months (from December 2024 to November 2025) rose by 3.6% compared to the same period one year earlier (from December 2023 to November 2024).

Monthly rebound in business births, particularly in the trade sector
In November 2025, seasonally and working-day adjusted data show that business births rebounded sharply in trade, including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+2.9% after -5.1%), and more moderately in business support activities (+0.8% after -0.7%). Business births rose again in information and communication (+4.4% after +4.3%) and in accommodation and food services (+4.8% after +3.9%). Conversely, they continued to decline in industry (-2.1% after -5.8%) and in education, health and social work activities (-3.5% after -0.2%), and fell back in construction (-3.9% after +2.1%).
Sharp year-on-year increase in business births over the past three months
In raw data, the cumulative number of business births from September to November 2025 rose by 9.5% compared to the same period one year earlier. Registrations of self-managed micro-entrepreneur surged (+10.7%), as did company creations (+8.9%). Creations of conventional sole proprietorships also increased (+2.6%).
Over this period, the sector contributing the most to the overall rise was business support activities (+11,600 births compared to the same period one year earlier, representing a contribution* of +4.1 points). Within this sector, business births rose particularly sharply in “head office activities” (+3,100 births year on year). Conversely, the transport and storage sector contributed the most to the overall decline in business births compared to the same period one year earlier (-1,900 births, or a contribution of -0.7 points).
Increase in business births over the past twelve months
In raw data, the total number of business births over the past twelve months (from December 2024 to November 2025) increased by 3.6% year on year. Registrations of self-managed micro-entrepreneur rose (+4.8%), as did company creations (+4.3%), while creations of conventional sole proprietorships declined significantly (-6.5%).

Revisions
For October 2025, the month-on-month change in total business births (all types of businesses combined) has been revised downwards by 0.1 points, due to adjustments in raw data and updates to the seasonal and working-day adjustment (SA-WDA) coefficients: it now stands at -1.1%, compared to -1.0% in the previous release.
