In 2024, the wave of employees mobility receded
Marianne Fabre, Benjamin Pipaud (INSEE)
In 2024, 15.9% of 2023 private sector employees left their employer, a year‑on‑year decrease of 2.4 percentage points , in the context of a slowing labour market. This decline marked a downturn after increases in the previous two years, thereby bringing the level of mobility below the one prevailing pre‑health crisis. This downturn encompassed all employees socio‑demographic characteristic, while the proportion of employees wishing to change jobs remained unchanged. The one‑year wage growth for 2021 employees who changed companies was lower than for those who stayed with the same employer. However, over a two‑year period, mobility proved to be financially advantageous.
