8% of people did not undertake any job-related training during the year when they would have liked to.
Laïla Bentoudja (Insee), Hugo Schianchi (Dares)
In 2022, 57% of people aged between 18 and 64 did not take part in any job-related training in the previous twelve months. Most of them did not want to take part in a training. 8% of people surveyed would have liked to do so, but were not able to, while 49% did not want to. Unemployed persons (20%), people living in overseas departments (15%), young people (13%), people born abroad (13%) and parents of young children (10%), who wanted a training, more often than others declared that they did not receive any. Among people in employment, those in temporary jobs had less access to a job related training, even though they wanted one more.
People who wanted a training yet did not benefit from one were primarily looking to develop professionally, while those who did receive a training were rather aiming at improving their skills and doing their job better. There were several reasons why people did not take up a training for professional purposes, such as a lack of information. Organisational constraints, linked either to family or professional life, and financial burden were the difficulties most often cited by people who were not able to take part in a job-related training.
