The results are comparable to those of European countries complying with the European IESS regulation, which aims to go further in the harmonisation and comparability of data, moving from harmonisation by output (variables) to harmonisation by input (how information is collected).

Comparability over time is ensured through the use of stable methods.

In 2021, the renovation of the survey has led to a backcasting of previous results to ensure this comparability.

External consistency is analysed on the main indicators with multiple sources: for unemployment by comparison with the Demandes d'Emploi en Fin de Mois (DEFM) co-produced by Dares and Pôle emploi, for employment by comparison with administrative sources on employment; for hours and duration of work with hours paid in Nominative Social Declaration (DSN).

The internal consistency of the data was checked: compliance with the additivity of the variables, application of recognised methods for detecting atypical points, etc.
