Preliminary evolutions in hydrocarbons price indices in June 2026

Given the current crisis in the Middle East, the preliminary evolutions between May and June 2026 for several hydrocarbons price indices used in the calculation of some indices are specified below:

- Non-road diesel for civil engineering: -9.4%

- Petroleum bitumen: -0.1%

- Wholesale of gas, on spot markets: +2.7%

These evolutions are provided for information purposes only and are not included in the calculation of the indices for May 2026. These evolutions are preliminary and not final. Revisions may be made before the next publication of the construction indices on 14 August 2026.

Furthermore, the monthly evolution in June 2026 of the Consumer Price Index for diesel is available at the following address: Consumer Price Index - Base 2025 - All households - Metropolitan France - COICOP classification: 07.2.2.1 - Diesel (ND).

Definition

The Construction of buildings indices, Civil engineering indices, the Miscellaneous indices for construction and the index for updating material assets in construction are producer cost indices of different activities in the construction sector, mainly used for escalating contracts.

Calculation method

The methodological documentation is available on the “Documentation” tab. Please note that Construction of buildings indices, Civil engineering indices and Miscellaneous indices for construction are based on the production and import prices of inputs and measure costs before any subsidies or reimbursements.

Uses

Businesses and local authorities may use these official indices published in the Official Journal for escalating construction work bids, by selecting the activity that is closest to the subject of their bid. In contracts signed before the publication of the indices in the Official Journal of 16 January 2015 the former series have to be used until September 2014 inclusively, and, since October 2014 inclusively, the former series can be expanded by chain-linking it with the latter one. The result is to be rounded off to one decimal place.
