In January 2026, producer prices in the French industry rose by 1.1% (after +0.3% in December 2025 and +2.3% in November). Producer prices increased for products sold on the home market (+0.5% after +0.3% in December) and for those intended for foreign markets (+2.7% after remaining stable in December). Over a year, French industrial producer prices continued to decline (-1.9% after -2.1% in December).
Excluding energy in the broad sense (hydrocarbons, refined petroleum products, electricity, etc.), producer prices in the French industry rose over a month (+0.3% after remaining stable in December) and were virtually stable over a year (+0.1% after +0.5% in December).

Producer prices in the French industry: +1.1%
In January 2026, producer prices in the French industry rose by 1.1% (after +0.3% in December 2025 and +2.3% in November). Producer prices increased for products sold on the home market (+0.5% after +0.3% in December) and for those intended for foreign markets (+2.7% after remaining stable in December). Over a year, French industrial producer prices continued to decline (-1.9% after -2.1% in December).

Prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed (+1.2% after +2.8% in December), and those for manufactured products rebounded (+0.3% after -0.5% in December). Over a year, the decline in producer prices in the French industry for the home market intensified (-2.3% after -1.9% in December).
Slowdown in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water
In January 2026, prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed (+1.2% after +2.8% in December). Over a year, prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water decreased for the twenty-sixth consecutive month (-7.6% after -8.1%).
Rebound in prices of refined petroleum products
Prices for refined petroleum products rebounded over a month (+0.4% after -11.7% in December and +7.7% in November): world oil prices rose in January after having fallen sharply in December. Over a year, the fall in prices of refined petroleum products intensified (-20.6% after -14.3% in December).
Rise in prices of “other industrial products”, of electronic equipment and machinery and of transport equipment
Prices of “other industrial products” rose over a month (+0.5% after remaining stable in December), driven by a strong increase in prices of jewellery and related articles (+10.3% after remaining stable) in line with higher precious metals prices. Over a year, prices of “other industrial products” continued to rise (+0.7% after +0.8% in December).
Prices of electronic equipment and machinery rebounded over a month (+0.6% after -0.2% in December), driven by higher prices of electrical equipment (+1.8% after -0.1%). Over a year, those prices were stable (after -0.3% in December).
Prices of transport equipment rose over a month (+0.4% after -0.1% in December) and continued to rise over a year (+0.5% after +0.6% in December).

In January 2026, prices for food and beverages fell back slightly over a month (-0.2% after +0.3% in December), driven by lower prices of bread, fresh pastry goods and cakes (-0.9% after +1.2%). Over a year, prices for food and beverages slowed (+1.7% after +2.7%).

FOREIGN MARKETS: +2.7%
In January 2026, prices of French industrial products intended for foreign markets rose over a month (+2.7% after remaining stable in December). Prices for manufactured products rebounded (+0.3% after -0.4% in December), and those for mining and quarrying products, energy and water accelerated sharply.
Prices for refined petroleum products rebounded over a month (+0.7% after -8.7% in December and +1.6% in November).
Transport equipment prices also rebounded (+0.5% after -0.4% in December).
Prices of “other industrial products” rose in January (+0.4% after +0.1%): they were driven by higher prices of luggage, handbags and the like, saddlery and harness (+6.9% after +0.4%).
Prices of electronic equipment and machinery rebounded slightly in January (+0.2% after -0.3% in December).
Finally, prices for food and beverages fell (-0.6% after -0.1% in December), driven by a further decline in those of dairy and cheese products (-2.7% after -1.0%).
Over a year, the fall in industrial producer prices for foreign markets eased (-1.5% after -2.9% in December).

Import prices of industrial products: +0,9%
In January 2026, import prices for industrial products rebounded (+0.9% after -0.6%). Prices for manufactured products rebounded (+0.2% after -0.4% in December) as did those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water.
Prices of “other industrial products” accelerated slightly (+0.5% after +0.3% in December).
Prices for refined petroleum products rebounded over a month (+1.6% after -9.7% in December).
Prices of electronic equipment and machinery were virtually stable in January (+0.1% after remaining stable in December), and those for transport equipment were stable (after +0.1% in December).
Finally, the decline in food and beverages prices intensified over a month (-0.8% after -0.2%), driven by a sharp fall in those of dairy and cheese products (-6.6% after -1.8%).
Over a year, import prices for industrial products continued to decline (-3.8% after -3.9% in December).
