Rise over a quarter
In Q4 2025, buildings’ maintenance and improvement work prices (IPEA) went up by 0.3% over a quarter (after -0.1% in Q3 and +0.4% in Q2). They went up by 0.3% in the residential sector (after a stability) and by 0.4% in the non-residential sector (after -0.3%).
Prices went up again for “other construction installation” (+1.2% after +0.3%) and for electrical installation (+0.4% after +0.7%).
They bounced back for painting and glazing (+0.6% after -0.1%), plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+0.4% after -0.5%), joinery installation (+0.3% after -0.3%), roofing (+0.2% after -0.2%), as well as for “other specialised construction activities” (+0.1% after -0.6%).
Lastly, prices were stable for floor and wall covering (after +0.6%) and went down for plastering (-0.2% after -0.3%).
Acceleration over a year
Year on year, buildings' maintenance and improvement work prices accelerated (+1.2% in Q4 2025, after +0.9% in Q3 2025 and +1.2% in Q2). The price rise was identical in the residential sector and in the non-residential sector (+1.2%).
Prices rose most sharply for “other construction installation” (+2.5% after +1.6%), electrical installation (+2.1% after +1.6%), for plastering (+2.0% after +3.4%), as well as for painting and glazing (+2.0% after +1.3%).
They increased more moderately for joinery installation (+1.7% after +1.6%), roofing (+1.3% after +0.6%) and for floor and wall covering (+1.0% after +1.7%).
The rise in prices was more moderate for plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+0.6% after +0.5%).
Lastly, prices decreased again for “other specialised construction activities” (-0.7% after -1.3%).
Revisions
The quarterly evolution in the IPEA for the third quarter of 2025 has been revised upwards by 0.1 points at -0.1% after taking into account late responses of companies.

The buildings’ maintenance and improvement work price index (IPEA) is a quarterly index which measures the evolution of prices (net of taxes) charged by construction enterprises (including artisanal forms) for their maintenance and improvement works in residential and non-residential buildings during the quarter under review.
The IPEA indices are not seasonally nor working-day adjusted.
