In December 2025, producer prices in the French industry rose by 0.3% (after +2.3% in November and +0.3% in October). Producer prices slowed for products sold on the home market (+0.2% after +2.8% in November) and were stable for those intended for foreign markets (after +0.6% in November). Over a year, the decline in French industrial producer prices intensified slightly (-2.2% after -1.9% in November).
Excluding energy in the broad sense (hydrocarbons, refined petroleum products, electricity, etc.), producer prices in the French industry were stable over a month (after +0.1% in November) and continued to rise over a year (+0.4% after +0.5% in November).

Producer prices in the French industry: +0.3%
In December 2025, producer prices in the French industry rose by 0.3% (after +2.3% in November and +0.3% in October). Producer prices slowed for products sold on the home market (+0.2% after +2.8% in November) and were stable for those intended for foreign markets (after +0.6% in November). Over a year, the decline in French industrial producer prices intensified slightly (-2.2% after -1.9% in November).

HOME MARKET: +0.2%
In December 2025, producer prices in the French industry for the home market slowed (+0.2% after +2.8% in November). Prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed sharply (+2.9% after +10.8% in November) and those for manufactured products fell back (-0.6% after +0.5% in November). Over a year, the decline in producer prices in the French industry for the home market intensified (-2.0% after -1.5% in November).
Slowdown in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water and slight rise in those of “other industrial products”
In December 2025, prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed sharply (+2.9% after +10.8% in November), following the switch to winter rates for electricity transmission and distribution in November. Over a year, prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water decreased for the twenty-fifth consecutive month (-8.0% after -8.7%).
The slight rise in prices of “other industrial products” continued over a month (+0.2% as in November), driven by higher prices for basic iron and steel and ferro-alloys (+3.1% after -1.1%). Over a year, prices of “other industrial products” continued to rise (+0.9% as in November).
Sharp downturn in prices of refined petroleum products
Prices for refined petroleum products fell back sharply over a month (-13.1% after +7.8% in November and -2.8% in October): the decline in world oil prices continued in December and was reinforced by the appreciation of the euro against the dollar over the same period. Over a year, the fall in prices of refined petroleum products intensified sharply (-15.6% after -4.0% in November).
Fall in prices of electronic equipment and machinery
Prices of electronic equipment and machinery fell by 0.4% over a month (after +0.4% in November), driven by lower prices for electric motors, generators and transformers (-1.0% after +0.2%). Over a year, those prices continued to decline (-0.5% after -0.3% in November).

Virtual stability in prices of food and beverages and in those of transport equipment
In December 2025, prices for food and beverages were virtually stable over a month (+0.1% after -0.2% in November). Prices for processed and preserved meat increased (+1.2% after +0.6%), in particular for beef, in a context of strong demand and a decline in livestock numbers linked to the fall in the number of farmers. This rise was offset by a sharper fall in prices of dairy and cheese products (-0.6% after -0.2%). Over a year, prices for food and beverages continued to rise (+2.4% after +2.5%).
Finally, prices of transport equipment were also virtually stable over a month (-0.1% after +0.1% in November) and continued to rise over a year (+0.6% after +0.7% in November).

FOREIGN MARKETS: stability
In December 2025, the industrial producer prices for foreign markets were stable over a month (after +0.6%). Prices for manufactured products fell back (-0.4% after +0.3% in November), while prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed but remained dynamic.
Prices for refined petroleum products fell back sharply over a month (-10.3% after +1.6% in November and -2.0% in October).
Prices of electronic equipment and machinery were down anew (-0.2% after +0.7% in November).
Transport equipment prices also fell back (-0.4% after +0.3% in November).
The slight fall in prices of food and beverages continued (-0.2% as in November), driven by a further decrease in those of dairy and cheese products (-1.0% after -1.1%).
Prices of “other industrial products” were virtually stable in December (+0.1% after +0.2% in November): the fall in prices for other organic basic chemicals (-2.4% after -0.2%) was offset by a rebound in those of other chemical products (+1.6% after -1.1%).
Over a year, the decline in industrial producer prices for foreign markets intensified slightly (-3.0% after -2.5% in November).

Import prices of industrial products: -0,6%
In December 2025, the import prices for industrial products fell back (-0.6% after +0.4%). Prices for manufactured products fell back by 0.4% (after +0.4% in November), and those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water decreased.
Prices for refined petroleum products fell back sharply over a month (-9.7% after +4.8% in November). The decline in food and beverages prices continued (-0.2% after -0.3%).Prices of electronic equipment and machinery were virtually stable in December (+0.1% after +0.3%).
The slight rise in prices of “other industrial products” continued (+0.3% after +0.2% in November), driven by the continued increase in precious metals prices (+7.5% after +5.7%).
Finally, transport equipment prices increased slightly over a month (+0.2% after remaining stable in November).
Over a year, the decline in import prices for industrial products intensified (-3.9% after -3.1% in November).

Revisions
The change in the producer price index in the French industry for the home market between October and November 2025 has been revised upwards by 1.7 points (due to the inclusion of more late-arriving information than usual in the energy sector): published at the end of December 2025 at +1.1%, it has been revised to +2.8%. As a result, the change in the index for the total industry (all markets) for November 2025 has been revised to +2.3% (instead of +0.9%).

Definition–The producer price indices in industry measure the change of producer prices of goods and services, linked to a given industrial activity and sold on the home market or on the foreign markets. The import price indices of industrial products measure the change of transaction prices of goods and services purchased by economic agents established on French territory to non-resident agents.
Calculation method–They are calculated on the basis of the results of the survey “Observation of prices in industry and services” (OPISE), which is operated by INSEE.
