In Q3 2025, prices of buildings' maintenance and improvement works went down by 0.2%

Fall over a quarter
In Q3 2025, buildings’ maintenance and improvement work prices (IPEA) went down by 0,2% over a quarter (after +0.4% in Q2 2025 and +0.5% in Q1 2025). They went down by 0.1% in the residential sector (after +0.5%) and by 0.3% in the non-residential sector (after +0.3%).
Prices went up for electrical installation (+0.6% after +0.2%), for floor and wall covering (+0.5% after -0.2%) and for “other construction installation” (+0.3% after -0.6%).
They fell back for plastering (-0.3% after +1.2%), roofing (-0.3% after +0.8%), painting and glazing (-0.3% after +0,7%) and joinery installation (-0.3% after +0.7%).
Lastly, prices also fell back for plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (-0.5% after +0.5%), and for “other specialised construction activities” (-0.6% after +0.4%).
Deceleration over a year
Year on year, buildings' maintenance and improvement work prices decelerated (+0.9% in Q3 2025, after +1.2% in Q2 2025 and +0.9% in Q1). The price rise over a year was slightly more pronounced in the residential sector (+0.9%) than in the non-residential sector (+0.8%).
Prices rose most sharply for plastering (+3.4% after +4.0%).
They increased more moderately for “other construction installation” (+1.6% after +2.5%), for floor and wall covering (+1.6% after +2.0%), joinery installation (+1.6% after +2.0%) and electrical installation (+1.5% after +0.9%).
The rise in prices over a year was more moderate for painting and glazing (+1.1% after +1.7%), for plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+0.6% after +1.4%) and for roofing (+0.5% after +1.4%).
Lastly, prices kept decreasing over a year for “other specialised construction activities” (-1.3% after -0.9%).
Revisions
The quarterly evolution in the IPEA for the second quarter of 2025 is not revised (after rounding) compared to the previous release: it still stands at +0.4%.

The buildings’ maintenance and improvement work price index (IPEA) is a quarterly index which measures the evolution of prices (net of taxes) charged by construction enterprises (including artisanal forms) for their maintenance and improvement works in residential and non-residential buildings during the quarter under review.
The IPEA indices are not seasonally nor working-day adjusted.
