Rise over a quarter
In Q2 2025, buildings’ maintenance and improvement work prices (IPEA) went up by 0,4% over a quarter (after +0.5% in Q1 2025 and +0.1% in Q4 2024). They went up by 0.5% in the residential sector (after +0.4%) and by 0.3% in the non-residential sector (after +0.7%).
Prices accelerated for plastering (+1.2% after +1.4%), painting and glazing (+0.8% as in Q1 2025), joinery installation (+0.7% after +1.1%) and roofing (+0.7% after +0.5%).
They rose more slightly for plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+0.4% after +0.2%), electrical installation (+0.2% after +0.7) and they bounced back for “other specialised construction activities” (+0.4% after -0.6%).
Lastly, they fell back for floor and wall covering (-0.2% after +0.6%) and for “other construction installation” (-0.6% after +1.7%).
Acceleration over a year
Year on year, buildings' maintenance and improvement work prices accelerated (+1.2% in Q2 2025, after +0.9% in Q1 2025 and +0.9% in Q4 2024). The price rise over a year was more pronounced in the non-residential sector (+1.4%) than in the residential sector (+1.1%).
Prices rose most sharply for plastering (+4.0% after +2.6%) and “other construction installation” (+2.5% after +3.8%).
They increased also markedly for floor and wall covering (+2.0% after +2.3%) and joinery installation (+2.0% after +1.6%), as well as for painting and glazing (+1.8% after +1.4%).
The rise in prices over a year was more moderate for plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+1.3% after +1.1%), roofing (+1.3% after +0.8%) and electrical installation (+0.9% after +0.7%).
Prices decreased over a year for “other specialised construction activities” (-1.0% after -1.8%).
Revisions
The quarterly evolution in the IPEA for the first quarter of 2025 has been revised upwards by 0.1 points at +0.5% after taking into account late responses of companies.

The buildings’ maintenance and improvement work price index (IPEA) is a quarterly index which measures the evolution of prices (net of taxes) charged by construction enterprises (including artisanal forms) for their maintenance and improvement works in residential and non-residential buildings during the quarter under review.
The IPEA indices are not seasonally nor working-day adjusted.
