In Q1 2025, prices of buildings' maintenance and improvement works rose by 0.4% over a quarter and by 0.8% over a year Buildings maintenance and improvement price index - first quarter 2025

In Q4 2024, buildings’ maintenance and improvement work prices (IPEA) went up by 0,4% over a quarter (after +0.1% in Q4 2024 and +0.2% in Q3 2024). They went up by 0.8% in the non-residential sector (after +0.1%) and by 0.3% in the residential sector (after +0.1%).

Prices accelerated for plastering (+1.9% after +1.1%) and “other construction installation” (+1.4% after +0.4%). They bounced back for painting and glazing (+1.0% after -0.1%) and slowed down slightly for floor and wall covering (+0.6% after +0.7%). They accelerated for joinery installation (+0.6% after +0.2%) and electrical installation (+0,6% after a stability).

Prices bounced back for roofing (+0.5% after -0.5%) and slowed down for plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+0.2% after +0.3%).

Prices went down again for “other specialised construction activities” (-0.4% after -0.5%).

Year on year, buildings' maintenance and improvement work prices barely slowed down (+0.8% in Q1 2025, after +0.9% in Q4 2024 and +1.2% in Q3 2024). The price rise over a year was more pronounced in the non-residential sector (+1.2%) than in the residential sector (+0.5%).

Prices were rising the most for “other construction installation” (+3.6% after +0.8%), plastering (+3.0% after +1.9%) and floor and wall covering (+2.3% after +2.4%).

They were also rising markedly for painting and glazing (+1.6% after +1.2%), plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+1.1% after +2.1%) and joinery installation (+1.1% as in Q4 2024).

The rise in prices over a year was more moderate for roofing (+0.8% after +0.9%) and electrical installation (+0.6% after +0.5%).

Prices decreased over a year for “other specialised construction activities” (-1.7% after -1.0%).

The quarterly evolution in the IPEA for the fourth quarter of 2024 has been revised upwards by 0.1 points at +0.1% after taking into account late responses of companies.
