In February 2025, the overall producer prices in the French industry fell back (-0.5% after +0.8% in January and +0.7% in December). Producer prices fell back for products sold on the French market (-0.8% after +0.6%) and slowed for those intended for the foreign markets (+0.4% after +1.2% in January). Over a year, the French industrial producer prices fell for the twentieth consecutive month (-0.4% after -1.0% in January and -2.5% in December).
Excluding energy, the producer prices in French industry were virtually stable over a month (+0.1% after +0.7% in January), and were up over a year (+1.5% as in January).

Producer prices in the French industry: -0.5%
In February 2025, the overall producer prices in the French industry fell back (-0.5% after +0.8% in January and +0.7% in December). Producer prices fell back for products sold on the French market (-0.8% after +0.6%) and slowed for those intended for the foreign markets (+0.4% after +1.2% in January). Over a year, the French industrial producer prices fell for the twentieth consecutive month (-0.4% after -1.0% in January and -2.5% in December).
Excluding energy, the producer prices in French industry were virtually stable over a month (+0.1% after +0.7% in January), and were up over a year (+1.5% as in January).
HOME MARKET: -0.8%
In February 2025, the producer prices in the French industry for the home market fell back over a month (-0.8% after +0.6% in January): prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water decreased (-2.9% after +0.1%), and those of manufactured products were almost stable (+0.1% after +0.8% in January). Over a year, the producer prices in the French industry for the home market fell for the fifteenth consecutive month (-1.4% after -2.2% in January and -3.8% in December).
Lower prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water and for refined petroleum products
In February 2025, prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water were down (-2.9% after +0.1% in January and +2.8% in December): they were driven by the fall in electricity prices (-7.0% after -1.1%), due to the annual revision of regulated electricity sales tariffs from 1st February. Over a year, prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water fell for the fifteenth consecutive month (-6.4% after -9.0%), mainly due to the fall in electricity prices. Prices of refined petroleum products also fell over the month (-2.9% after +8.4% in January): world oil prices fell in February, reinforced by the slight appreciation of the euro against the dollar. Over a year, they fell sharply (-11.5% after -2.3% in January).
Rise in prices of food and beverages
Prices of food and beverages continued to rise in February (+0.5% after +0.7% in January and +0.5% in December). The rise was driven by a rebound in prices for processed and preserved meat (+1.5% after -0.5%): beef prices rose as cattle slaughter fell in France and Europe, while demand from Europe and North Africa remained high. Over a year, food and beverages prices rose by 2.4% (after +1.8% in January).
Rise in prices of “other industrial products”
Prices of “other industrial products” were up over a month (+0.3% as in January), driven by the rebound in prices of metal structures and parts of structures (+2.8% after -2.0%) and perfumes and toilet preparations (+2.8% after -0.7%), partly linked to the end of the sales season. Over a year, prices of “other industrial products” rose by 1.3% (after +1.1%).

Prices of electronic equipment and machinery were stable over a month (after +0.8% in January). Over a year, they rose by 1.3% (after +1.2% in January).
Transport equipment prices were almost stable over a month (-0.1% after +0.6%) and, over a year, they rose by 0.6% (after +0.8%).

In February 2025, the industrial producer prices for foreign markets slowed over a month (+0.4% after +1.2% in January). Prices for manufactured products were stable (after +1.0% in January), and those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water accelerated, in line with the rise in electricity prices on wholesale markets.
Prices of “other industrial products” rose slightly over a month (+0.2% as in January), driven by those of pesticides and other agrochemicals products (+5.3% after +11.7%). Prices for food and beverages slowed over a month (+0.2% after +0.5%).
Prices for transport equipment fell back over a month (-0.3% after +2.2%), as did those for refined petroleum products (-1.7% after +6.4% in January).
Prices for electronic equipment and machinery were virtually stable in February (-0.1% after +0.4%).
Over a year, the industrial producer prices for the foreign markets accelerated (+2.6% in February after +2.2% in January).

Import prices of industrial products: +0.2%
In February 2025, the import prices for industrial products slowed (+0.2% after +0.8% in January). Prices of manufactured products were virtually stable (+0.1% after +0.4% in January), and those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water slowed down.
Prices of “other industrial products” rebounded over a month (+0.5% after -0.5%), driven by those of other organic basic chemicals (+3.7% after +0.2%). Prices of food and beverages slowed over a month (+0.4% after +1.4%).
Prices for refined petroleum products fell in February (-0.7% after +5.8%), as did those of electronic equipment and machinery (-0.2% after +0.3%), dragged down by prices for communication equipment (-0.9% after +1.6%).
Finally, transport equipment prices were virtually stable over a month (+0.1% after +0.2%).
Over a year, the import prices for industrial products accelerated slightly in February 2025 (+1.8% after +1.6% in January).
