In Q4 2024, prices of buildings' maintenance and improvement works were stable over a quarter and up by 0.9% over a year Buildings maintenance and improvement price index - fourth quarter 2024

In Q4 2024, buildings’ maintenance and improvement work prices (IPEA) were stable over a quarter (after +0.2% in Q3 2024 and +0.1% in Q2 2024). They were stable in the non-residential sector (after +0.3%) as well as in the residential sector (after +0.2%).

Prices accelerated for plastering (+1.1% after +0.3%). They slowed down slightly for floor and wall covering (+0.7% after +0.9%) as well as plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+0.2% after +0.3%). They accelerated moderately for joinery installation (+0.2% after a stability) and remained stable for electrical installation (as in Q3).

Prices fell back for painting and glazing (-0.1%, after +0.4%), roofing (-0.2% after +0.6%) and “other construction installation” (-0.3% after +1.2%).

Prices went down again for “other specialised construction activities” (-0.7% after -0.2%).

Year on year, buildings' maintenance and improvement work prices slowed down for the ninth quarter in a row (+0.9% in Q4 2024, after +1.2% in Q3 and +1.4% in Q2). The price rise over a year was slightly more pronounced in the non-residential sector (+1.0%) than in the residential sector (+0.9%).

Prices were rising the most for floor and wall covering (+2.4% as in Q3), plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+2.0% after +1.9%) and plastering (+1.9% after +0.8%).

They were also rising markedly for painting and glazing (+1.2% after +2.1%), roofing (+1.2% after +1.9%) and joinery installation (+1.1% after +0.4%).

The rise in prices over a year was more moderate for “other construction installation” (+0.5% after +2.0%) and electrical installation (+0.5% after +1.6%).

Prices decreased over a year for “other specialised construction activities” (-1.1% after +0.2%).

The quarterly change in the IPEA for the third quarter of 2024 is not revised (after rounding) compared to the previous release: it still stands at +0.2%.
