by 3.8% over a year Industrial Producer and Import Price Indices - November 2024
In November 2024, the overall producer prices in the French industry accelerated sharply (+2.7% after +0.8% in October and -0.3% in September). Producer prices accelerated both for products sold on the French market (+3.2% after +0.9%) and for those intended for the foreign markets (+1.1% after +0.6% in October). They were around 22% above their 2021 average level.
Excluding energy, the producer prices in the French industry were stable over a month (after a stability in October), and rose over a year (+0.5% after remaining stable in October).
Recent analyses have shown that the increase in producer prices for sector 29.10 Motor Vehicles was significantly overestimated in the recent period. This overestimation resulted from the inclusion of erroneous prices for one of the sector's main companies. Revised indices will be published in the next release on 31 January 2025. The increase in producer prices for motor vehicles on the French market between September 2020 and September 2024 will be revised from 26.2% to 12.8%, and the increase in producer prices for the French manufacturing industry on the French market will be revised from 32.1% to 31.5%. Market-price series, which may be used for contract indexing, will also be corrected.
