In June 2022, the industrial producer prices picked up sharply over a month (+1.4% after +0.2% in the previous month). Those for the products sold on the home market rebounded (+1.3% after –0.3%), while those for the foreign markets accelerated (+2.1% after +1.1%). Over a year, the industrial producer prices kept rising strongly: +25.0% in June 2022 (after +24.9%).

Over a year, the industrial producer prices kept rising strongly: +25.0% in June 2022 (after +24.9%).
HOME MARKET: +1.3%
In June 2022, the industrial producer prices for the home market rose by 1.3% over a month (after –0.3% in the previous month): those of manufactured products were up by 1.8% (after +1.9%), while the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water fell at a more moderate pace than in the previous month (–0.4% after –5.5%). Over a year, the industrial producer prices for the home market continued to rise strongly: +27.0% (after +27.1%).
Slight fall of prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water
In June 2022, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water fell by 0.4% over a month (after –5.5% in May 2022) and decelerated slightly over a year (+46.2% after +50.9%). The monthly decline in prices for the waste collection, treatment and disposal services and materials recovery services intensified in June 2022 (–4.2% after –2.0%), in line with the turnaround in metal prices. Prices of trade services of gas through mains fell by 0.7% (after –12.8%) and decelerated over a year (+124.3% after +145.0%). At last, electricity production and trade prices rose slightly over a month (+0.4% after –5.7%) and slowed down over a year (+58.2% after +63.2%).
Acceleration of refined petroleum product prices
In the wake of crude oil prices, the prices of refined petroleum products accelerated in June 2022 over a month (+13.0% after +9.6%), as over a year (+135.0% after +123.9%), reaching their highest level recorded since January 2005.

Persistent rise of food and beverage prices
In June 2022, the food and beverage prices kept rising over a month (+1.2%) but at a more moderate pace than in the previous month (+2.0%). Prices remained on a strong upward trend for bread, fresh pastry goods and cakes (+2.1% after +2.4%), dairy and cheese products (+1.9% after +0.4%) and preserved meat and meat products (+2.2% after +3.1%). On the contrary, those of oils and fats fell back for the first time since August 2021 (–7.1% after +4.8%). Year-over-year, the rise of food and beverage prices kept growing, reaching 16.3% in June 2022 (after +15.0% in May 2022 and +13.4% in April 2022).
Deceleration of the “other industrial products” prices
In June 2022, the prices of the “other industrial products” kept decelerating over a month (+0.5% after +1.1% in May 2022 and +2.7% in April 2022). They slowed down for chemicals and chemical products (+1.4% after +1.8%), “other non-metallic mineral products” (+1.6% after +1.7%), paper and paper products (+1.5% after +2.6%) and fell back slightly for basic metals (–0.3% after +0.8%). Year-over-year, the prices of the “other industrial products” remained on a strong rise in June 2022 (+17.6% after +18.0% in the previous month).
Rise of prices of transport equipment and electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery
In June 2022, transport equipment prices were up by 0.8% over a month (after +0.9%), driven up by those of motor vehicles (+1.3% after +1.0%); over a year, they rose by 6.2% (after +5.6%).
At last, prices of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery were up by 0.5% over a month (as in the previous month) and by 7.6% over a year (after +7.7%).

FOREIGN MARKETS: +2.1%
In June 2022, the industrial producer prices for the foreign markets accelerated over a month (+2.1% after +1.1%), driven strongly by those of electricity, while those of manufactured products slowed down (+0.8% after +1.5%). Over a year, the industrial producer prices for the foreign markets remained on a strong rise: +20.2% (after +19.3% in the previous month).
In the wake of crude oil prices, prices of refined petroleum products accelerated over a month (+12.3% after +11.0%), as over a year (+130.4% after +118.6%). Those of food and beverages slowed down over a month (+1.1% after +1.9%), especially those of dairy and cheese products (+3.3% after +5.0%), but accelerated over a year (+18.8% after +17.5%). The prices of the “other industrial products” decelerated sharply over a month (+0.2% after +1.3%) but remained on a strong rise over a year (+18.6% after +19.5%). At last, prices also slowed down over a month for transport equipment (+0.2% after +0.9%; +5.8% over a year after +6.1%) and electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery (+0.3% after +0.5%; +5.6% over a year after +5.9%).

In June 2022, the import prices of industrial products went up by 0.5% over a month (after +0.4% in May 2022): the rise of manufactured product prices (+1.0% after +0.9%) was partly offset by the new fall of prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water (especially those of natural gas). Over a year, the import prices of industrial products kept rising strongly (+29.3%), but slightly less than in the previous month (+30.6% in May 2022).
The prices of coke and refined petroleum products accelerated strongly both over a month (+13.2% after +3.8%) and over a year (+124.5% after +111.0%). They fell back over a month for the “other industrial products” (–0.2% after +0.8%; +16.7% over a year after +18.3%) and for food, beverages and tobacco (–0.5% after +1.4%; +15.6% over a year after +16.6%). Transport equipment prices rose by 0.3% over a month (after +0.4%; +3.8% over a year, as in the previous month). At last, prices of electrical, computer and electronic equipment and machinery were almost stable over a month (+0.1% after +0.3%; +5.6% over a year after +5.9%).

The producer price indices in industry measure the change of producer prices of goods and services, linked to a given industrial activity and sold on the home market or on the foreign markets.
The import price indices of industrial products measure the change of transaction prices of goods and services purchased by economic agents established on French territory to non-resident agents.
