Tensions on the productive apparatus remain intense
In June 2022, the production capacity utilisation rate has stepped back slightly. At 92.3%, it stands above its long-term average (88.8%).
As many business managers as in the previous month have reported that obstacles are limiting their production: their proportion (72%) is stable and remains higher than its average level. The shares of those facing difficulties due to a workforce shortage (45%) and due to supply difficulties (38%) have bounced back this month.
At the same time, the share of companies at the limit of their production capacity, that is to say that could not produce more with their current means if they received more orders, remains high but has decreased in June. Somewhat fewer than half of business managers have reported to be in this situation, against a third in average in the long term. More precisely, a quarter of business managers consider themselves both unable to increase their production in case of additional orders and facing difficulties due to a lack of personnel, a share higher than last month and much larger than in average. Likewise, the share of business managers unable to increase their production and facing supply difficulties has slightly increased and is getting closer to its highest level observed in April 2022. However, bottlenecks to production increase because of equipment shortage are deemed less penalizing than in May.
The balance of opinion on expected prices is stable
In June 2022, as many business managers as in the previous month have reported that they will increase their prices over the next three months. The corresponding balance of opinion is stable at its highest level since October 1981.

graphiqueWorkforce size tendency in building construction
The opinion on order books has improved slightly
In June 2022, somewhat more business managers than last month have deemed the level of their order books to be higher than usual: the corresponding balance has slightly risen, far above its average. Besides, given their staff size, building contractors consider that their order books provide them with 8.9 months of work, an amount of time hardly lower than the previous month.
Revision
The business climate in the building construction industry of May 2022 has not been revised.
