In June 2018, producer prices in industry rose (+0.3%) Industrial Producer and Import Price Indices - June 2018

On all markets (French market and foreign markets), producer prices in industry rose again in June 2018 (+0.3% after +0.6% in May). Year over year, they continued to accelerate (+3.2% after +2.5% in May).

French producer prices in industry for the French market were virtually stable in June 2018 (+0.1% after +0.7% in May), as the rise of prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water were almost offset by manufactured product price decline.

In June, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water prices grew by 1.4% after the previous month's stability: the electricity selling prices increased, essentially on wholesale market, as the gas prices. Year over year, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water prices remained strong (+4.3% after +3.0% in May).

After three consecutive months of growth, the prices of refined petroleum products started to decline in June (–1.5%), in the wake of the oil price. The prices of fuels fell in June, while the prices of bitumen kept growing sharply. Year over year, prices of refined petroleum products accelerated again (+45.2% after +36.2% in May).

In June, food and beverage prices declined slightly (−0.2% after +0.2). Year over year, food and beverage prices also fell back (−0.3% after +0.2% in May).

In June, the prices of “other industrial products” stabilized after the previous month's rise (+0.5% in May). Year over year, prices of “other industrial products” increased by 2.0%, as in the previous month.

In June 2018, the producer prices of French industrial products sold on foreign markets rose by 0.6%, as in May; the electricity selling prices took off. The prices of “other industrial products” increased by 0.4%, mainly chemicals, in the wake of the past oil prices surges. Year over year, export prices of industrial products gathered pace (+2.4% after +1.1%).

In June 2018, the import prices of industrial products rose by 0.4%. The prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water prices increased, due to the sharp rise in electricity and gas selling prices, partly offset by the decrease of petroleum products prices. Food product prices rose by 0.8% under the influence of trade tensions. The prices of “other industrial products” increased by 0.4%, espectially chemical and metal products prices, due to the prices of basic metals on world markets. Year over year, import prices kept speeding up (+4.6% after +3.2%).
