In November 2017, services output declined very slightly (−0.1%) after a rebound in October (+1.4%).

In November 2017, services output declined very slightly (−0.1%) after a rebound in October (+1.4%).
Services output increased strongly over the last three months
Over the last three months (September to November), services output rose by 1.3% compared to the previous three months.
It grew in information and communication (+3.1%), business support (+0.8%), accommodation and food service activities (+2.0%), transportation and storage (+1.2%) and household services (+3.3%). It decreased in real estate activities (−1.4%).
Output also grew sharply over a year
In services, the output of the last three months rose sharply year on year (+5.2%), with an increase in all sectors.
Output went up strongly in business support (+5.2%), be it in administrative and business service activities (+6.5%) or in specialised, scientific and technical activities (+3.9%). It also grew sharply in information and communication (+6.9%), transportation and storage (+5.1%), accommodation and food service activities (+6.4%) and household services (+5.9%). It increased more slightly in real estate activities (+0.9%).

Sharp decrease in business support
After a rise in October, output in business support activities fell back in November 2017 (−1.2%).
It decreased sharply in specialised, scientific and technical activities (−1.5% after +1.6%) mainly in activities of head offices and management consultancy (−2.0%), architecture and engineering activities (−2.4%), scientific research and development (−1.1%).
Output also fell back in administrative and business support activities (−1.0% after +1.3%) and declined in almost all sub-sectors, especially in employment activities (−1.9%) and in services to building and landscape activities (−2.2%).
Downturn in transportation and storage
In November 2017, output in transportation and storage dwindled (−0.8% after +2.1%). While it dropped in postal and courier activities (−5.2% after +7.1%) and in land transport (−0.5% after +2.5%), it recovered in air transport (+2.0% after −4.1%).
Significant rise in household services
Output in household services grew sharply again in November (+3.8% after +2.5%). It increased strongly again in the arts, entertainment and recreation sector (+6.8% after +4.4%) and more slightly in “other personal services” (+0.6% after +0.5%).
Increase in information and communication
After a rebound in October, output in information and communication speeded up slightly in November (+1.1% after +0.9%), primarily in computer programming (+1.2%), programming and broadcasting activities (+10.2%) and motion picture, sound recording, music publishing (+2.3%).
Further growth in accomodation and food service activities
After a bounce in October, output in accommodation and food services continued to go up in November (+1.6% after +1.2%). The growth was more marked in accommodation (+3.3%) than in food and beverage service activities (+1.2%).
Revisions
The month-on-month variation rate of the index of services production in October 2017 was unchanged at 1.4%.
