In Q2 2017, private payroll employment increased sharply again : +0.5%, after +0.3% (that is +91,700 jobs after +57,700). This was the eleventh consecutive quarter of growth. Year on year, private payroll employment increased by +1.5% (that is +291,900 jobs). Excluding temporary employment, it increased over the quarter by +0.3% (that is +64,000 jobs), as in the previous quarter, and by +1.0% over the year (+185,900 jobs).
Private employment grew as in the previous quarter in agriculture (+0.3%, that is +900 jobs). It was stable in industry (0.0%, with is −600 jobs, after −0.2%). It continued to increase in construction (+0.4%, that is +5,400 jobs, after 0.7%). Year on year, private employment dipped by 12,200 in industry whereas it increased by 9,100 in construction.
In Q2 2017, in market services, private employment accelerated: +0.7%, that is +80,000 jobs, after +0.4%. Excluding temporary employment, net private job creation remained dynamic in this sector : +0.5% over the quarter (that is +52,300 jobs, after +53,500 in Q1 2017) and +1.5% over a year (i.e +163,800 jobs). Private employment in non-market services increased by +0.2% over the quarter (i.e +6,100 jobs), as in the previous quarter, and by +0.8% over a year (that is +21,100 jobs).
Warning : Starting from the results for Q2 2017, the scope of the flash estimate is extended to cover all private payroll employment in France (excluding Mayotte).

Temporary employment picked up
Temporary employment recovered sharply in Q2 2017 (+4.1% that is +27,700 jobs), after a moderate drop in the previous quarter (−0.8%). Year on year, it continued to increase dramatically (+17.6%, +106,000 jobs).

Revision
Quarter-on-quarter, private payroll employment growth in Q1 2017, has been revised downwards by 22,600 jobs compared to the publication of 13 June 2017 because of the temporary employment.
