2017- n° 182New rise in business start-ups in June 2017 Enterprise births - June 2017
In June 2017, the number of business births for all entreprises rose again, more strongly than in May (+2.9% after +1.8%, seasonally and working-day adjusted). Micro-entrepreneurs' registrations speeded up (+4.3% after +2.3%) as well as start-ups excluding self-managed micro-entrepreneurs (+2.0% after +1.5%).

Compared to the same period one year before, the raw amount of births added up in the second quarter decreased (−1.6% in raw data). Sole proprietorship start-ups excluding micro-entrepreneurs went down slightly (−0.9%) and micro-entrepreneurs' registrations shrank (−4.6%). As for company births, they increased (+1.4%). Construction and trade were the sectors that contributed the most to the overall drop1.

+2.5% over the last twelve months
The raw number of business start-ups totted up during the last twelve months kept growing (+2.5% year on year after +2.8% in May). This rise was mostly due to sole proprietorship start-ups excluding self-managed micro-entrepreneurs (+5.0%) and company births (+4.9%). On the other hand micro-entrepreneurs' registrations fell once more (−1.1% after −1.2%).
A little less than two business set-ups out of five are self-managed micro-entrepreneurs' registrations
In June 2017, the share of micro–entrepreneurs' registrations in the businesses set up over the last twelve months amounted to 39.7%. One year before, it was 41.1%.

Revisions
The variation in the overall number of business births in May 2017 has been raised by 0.2 points to +1.8% due to the revision of raw data and the update of the SA-WDA parameters.
