Redistribution: in 2013, new measures increased household taxation and slightly reduced inequalities

Social and fiscal legislation changed in 2013. New measures led to an increase in the direct levies paid by households, particularly income tax, but the contribution of the poorest households was limited by the gradual nature of this transfer. At the same time, social benefits were only changed for the fringe. Overall, the new measures led to a slight reduction in inequalities in living standards. Before the reform, the ratio between the average standard of living of the wealthiest 10% and that of the poorest 10% was 6.6. Under the effect of the new measures taken in 2013, this ratio dropped to 6.5.
