On all markets (French market and foreign markets), prices were almost unchanged in October as in September (+0.1% following –0.1% in September). Year over year, they declined by 2.0%, mainly due to refined petroleum products (–32.0%).
Producer price indices in French industry: +0.1% in October
On all markets (French market and foreign markets), prices were almost unchanged in October as in September (+0.1% following –0.1% in September). Year over year, they declined by 2.0%, mainly due to refined petroleum products (–32.0%).
FRENCH MARKET: +0.2%
In October 2015, French producer prices in industry for the French market advanced slightly (+0.2% following 0.0% in September). Prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water continued to grow whereas prices for refined petroleum products and for other manufactured products declined anew.
Prices for other energy products grew
Prices for mining and quarrying products, energy, water continued to grow (+1.9% in October following +1.1% in September). Prices for the electricity wholesale market remained high, due to strong demand. Conversely, gas prices fell again.
Further fall of prices for refined petroleum products
In October, prices for refined petroleum products declined again (–2.4% after –1.8% in September), despite the rise of barrel oil prices. The decrease was more significant for super unleaded and gas oil, while prices for lubricating oils rose.
Near stability of food prices
In October, food prices remained almost unchanged (–0.1% after 0.0% in September). By products, prices ranged from –1.4% for butchers meat, due to the fall in prices for summer pieces, to +0.6% for oils and fats.
Prices for other manufactured products declined
In October, prices for other manufactured products dropped for the third month in a row (–0.4% after –0.6% in August as in September). This decrease mainly concerned chemical products (–1.3%), driven down by lower prices for raw materials from the oil industry, and in a lesser extent, pharmaceutical products (–0.7%).
FOREIGN MARKETS: +0.1%
Producer prices of French industrial products sold on foreign markets were virtually stable (+0.1% in October following –0.3% in September). Prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water climbed (+8.9%) as, to a lesser extend, prices for refined petroleum products (+1.1%). These increases were offset by the fall of food prices (–0.2%) and in those of other manufactured products (–0.4%).
Import price indices of industrial products: –0.4% in October
In October, import prices continued to fall (–0.4% after –0.6% in September). Prices decreased in all the main industrial sectors except for transport equipment, which remained stable.
