In Q1 2015, payroll employment in non-farm market sectors lowered by 0.1% q-o-q (-13,500 jobs, after -1,300 jobs) in the previous quarter. Industry dropped this quarter at much the same pace as in Q4 2014 (-0.2%), as well as in construction (–1.0%). Employment in services remained stable (after +0.2%). Excluding temporary work, employment in services increased slightly over the quarter (+0.1%). Excluding temporary work, employment in market sectors shrank over a year (–73,000 jobs, -0.5%).

Downturn in temporary employment in Q1
Temporary employment fell back in Q1 2015 (–9,200 jobs, -1.7%), after a sharp increase in the previous quarter (+24,000 jobs, +4.7%). It increased slightly year-on-year (+4,500 jobs, +0.5%).
