In April 2011, the turnover strongly declined in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–4.6%). It also decreased in household services (–1.1%) whereas it bounced in accommodation and food service activities (+1.2%) and in the retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.5).
Every index in this issue is in volume, seasonally and working-day adjusted.
In April 2011, the turnover strongly declined in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–4.6%). It also decreased in household services (–1.1%) whereas it bounced in accommodation and food service activities (+1.2%) and in the retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.5).

Quarter on quarter (q-o-q), the turnover rose in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.1%), in accommodation and food service activities (+1.0%) and in the “retail trade…” (+1.0%). It was down in household services (–0.3%).
Year on year (y-o-y), the turnover grew in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+5.9%), in the “retail trade…” (+4.5%) and, to a lesser extent, in accommodation and food services activities (+1.6%). It was broadly stable in households services (+0.1%).
According to our estimate, the turnover in the “retail trade…” is expected to weaken in May 2011 (–0.7%).
The SA-WDA evolution in March has been revised by –0.5 point in household services. The variation, initially announced at +0.4 %, has been corrected at –0.1 %. In the same period, the SA-WDA evolution has been revised by +0.3 point in trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, –0.3 point in accommodation and food service activities and –0.1 point in the “retail trade...”.
