Services Producer Price Indices : telecommunications and computer services rising at the end of 2010 Services producer price indices - 4th quarter 2010

In the fourth quarter of 2010, majority of services prices had positive changes, notably employment services. Beyond the fluctuations quarter-on-quarter, prices of IT and telecommunications services were on an upward trend, while advertising and rental of construction equipment prices kept on decreasing slightly.

Prices increased

Prices of telecommunications services increased during the third quarter (+1.4 %), but were still lower by 1.2 % than the previous year. Prices of computer programming and consultancy, and those of computer facilities management services increased by 1.1 % and 1.8 % respectively during the fourth quarter. Prices of publishing and news agencies services remained globally stable throughout the last two quarters.

Prices recovered

Prices of employment placement agencies services and temporary employment services increased by 1.3 % during this quarter, after having withdrawn by 0.4 % the previous quarter. Over one year, they gained 2.6 %.

Advertising and market studies

Prices fell

Prices of market research and polling services fell during this quarter (-1 %), canceling their rise of the previous quarter. Over one year, they grew by 1.2 %. The advertising prices continued their decline during the fourth quarter (-0.5 %), but less fast than previously. Over one year, they decreased by 2.2 %.
