The improvement in economic climat marks time in manufacturing industry Monthly business survey (goods-producing industries) - December 2009

According to the business leaders questioned in December, the industrial economic situation in France stabilized anew. The business climate indicator remains below its long term average. The turning point indicator goes down to the unfavorable area.

Manufacturing industry

Business leaders’s opinion on their past activity is near its long-term average from now on. Stocks of finished goods remain rated very inferior to their long-term. However order books, total and export, are still considered as very low. In particular, export order books’ level decrease noticeably in December.

The personal production outlook is lower as november: business leaders anticipate a small slowdown in industrial activity in the next months. The general production outlook, which represents business leaders’ opinion on French industry as a whole, decrease too but remains near its long-term average.
