The economic situation in manufacturing industry improved slightly Monthly business survey (goods-producing industries) - July 2009

According to the business leaders questioned in July, the industrial economic situation in France improve slightly: the business climate indicator increases for the fourth month in a row but still remains at a low level. The turning point indicator stabilizes in the favorable area.

Manufacturing industry

Business leaders consider that the drop of their past activity reduced slightly again in manufacturing industry. Stocks of finished goods decrease and are rated inferior to their long-term average. Nevertheless, total and export books are still considered as very low.

Looking at the personal production outlook, the fall-off in manufacturing industry would go on in the next months, but on a more moderate rythm. The general production outlook, which represents business leader’s opinion on French industry as a whole, remains negative.
