Users of regional accounts data are typically interested in cross-region and cross-country comparisons and in analysing structural changes in the economy from a medium-term perspective. Local actors are also interested in regional economic chronicles.

The data transmitted to Eurostat cover the period from 2000 to the provisional account for GDP, total value added, and total employment for NUTS 2 regions. For NACE, NUTS 3, and other variable breakdowns, the reference period extends from 2000 to the semi-final account. The transmitted data thus cover 100% of the data in the ESA 2010 transmission program. The GDP and value added data disseminated on insee.fr cover the period from 1990 to the provisional account, while the household account covers the period from 2000 to the semi-final account.
