Documentation on methodology

Several sources are used to develop the statistics file:
- The human resources of the Army (Army and Army Fuel Service);
- The center of expertise of the air force human resources (Air Force);
- The ministerial department for operating information systems;
- Human Resources (Navy and marine firefighters of Marseilles);
- The central management of the health service of armies (Health Service);
- The Defence applications’ development center in Rambouillet (National Gendarmerie);
- The General Administrative Office of the firefighters brigade in Paris (Paris firefighters);
- Ecole Polytechnique‘s School funds office (Ecole Polytechnique’s pupils);
- The Parisian service supporting the State's central administration (general inspectorate of the French armed forces and general officers of the central administration);
- The information system of public officials (French government Defence procurement and technology agency).

The statistics file can address several effective concepts:
- actual staffing levels;
- number of staff as at 31 December;
- actually worked full-time equivalents, taking into account the time spent by the military in the year.

It also allows us to understand several concepts of wages through the level of detail of the file. Net pay, gross wages, wage cutting in large families of bonuses or contributions, particular effects of certain bonuses, etc. can be calculated. Personal socio-demographic characteristics are also available: gender, age, ranks, geographic level, etc.
