The collection takes place by internet, with the possibility to respond through an e-mailed, mailed or faxed questionnaire from April to June of the given year.

Geographical scope: the survey covers the whole of France (including French overseas departments).

Legal unit

The survey's sampling design is based on the construction of three major strata :

• Core sectors (NAF sectors 3030Z, 5122Z, and 3316Z): Units in this stratum are surveyed exhaustively, without any criteria regarding workforce size or employment area.

• Potential sectors (approximately sixty NAF sectors): Units in the potential strata are surveyed if they exceed a certain employee headcount threshold (« cut-off » method). This headcount threshold increases as the probability of belonging to the sector decreases. For companies located in an employment area with a high concentration of aerospace, the headcount thresholds are lowered to optimize the number of companies in the sector in the sample.

• Specific units “cited” in at least one external source (aerospace group outline, units having declared in a previous survey that they belong to the sector, etc.) : these units will be questioned exhaustively, without criteria of workforce or employment area.
