Excluding energy in the broad sense (hydrocarbons, refined petroleum products, electricity, etc.), producer prices in the French industry were virtually stable over a month (-0.1% as in August) and continued to increase over a year (+0.7% as in August).

HOME MARKET: -0.2%

In September 2025, producer prices in the French industry for the home market continued to fall over a month (-0.2% as in August). The fall in prices for mining and quarrying products, energy, and water deepened (-0.8% after -0.2% in August), while those for manufactured products were virtually stable (+0.1% after -0.3% in August). Over a year, producer prices in the French industry for the home market were virtually stable (+0.1% as in August).

Rebound in prices of refined petroleum products and slight increase in those of food and beverages

In September 2025, prices for refined petroleum products rebounded strongly (+2.8% after -5.8% in August), following road diesel prices. Over a year, prices of refined petroleum products continued to decline but at a much slower pace (-0.3% after -11.9% in August and -14.6% in July).

Prices for food and beverages increased slightly over a month (+0.2% after -0.1% in August) driven by a sharp rise in prices of soft drinks, mineral waters and other bottled waters (+9.3% after a stability in August), linked to higher prices for mineral and sparkling waters. Over a year, prices for food and beverages accelerated slightly (+2.9% after +2.7%).

Decline in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water and in those of “other industrial products”

The decline in prices for mining and quarrying products, energy, and water deepened over a month (-0.8% after -0.2% in August), linked to prices on wholesale markets: prices in trade services of gas through mains decreased once again (-1.3% after -1.1%) and those of electricity retreated (-0.5% after +0.4% in August). Over a year, prices of mining and quarrying products, energy, and water declined for the twenty-second consecutive month (-5.0% after -3.6%).

Prices of “other industrial products” decreased over a month (-0.3% after a stability in August), driven by the downturn in prices of repair services of machinery (-1.9% after +1.2%). Over a year, they continued to rise (+0.8% as in August).
