In September 2025, the industrial producer prices fell by 0.3% over a month and by

In September 2025, producer prices in the French industry continued to fall (-0.3% after -0.5% in August and +0.7% in July). Producer prices decreased again for products sold on the home market (-0.2% as in August), and even more sharply for those intended for foreign markets (-0.7% after -0.9%). Over a year, French industrial producer prices continued to decline (-0.5% as in August).
Excluding energy in the broad sense (hydrocarbons, refined petroleum products, electricity, etc.), producer prices in the French industry were virtually stable over a month (-0.1% as in August) and continued to increase over a year (+0.7% as in August).

Producer prices in the French industry: -0.3%
In September 2025, producer prices in the French industry continued to fall (-0.3% after -0.5% in August and +0.7% in July). Producer prices decreased again for products sold on the home market (-0.2% as in August), and even more sharply for those intended for foreign markets (-0.7% after -0.9%). Over a year, French industrial producer prices continued to decline (-0.5% as in August).

In September 2025, producer prices in the French industry for the home market continued to fall over a month (-0.2% as in August). The fall in prices for mining and quarrying products, energy, and water deepened (-0.8% after -0.2% in August), while those for manufactured products were virtually stable (+0.1% after -0.3% in August). Over a year, producer prices in the French industry for the home market were virtually stable (+0.1% as in August).
Rebound in prices of refined petroleum products and slight increase in those of food and beverages
In September 2025, prices for refined petroleum products rebounded strongly (+2.8% after -5.8% in August), following road diesel prices. Over a year, prices of refined petroleum products continued to decline but at a much slower pace (-0.3% after -11.9% in August and -14.6% in July).
Prices for food and beverages increased slightly over a month (+0.2% after -0.1% in August) driven by a sharp rise in prices of soft drinks, mineral waters and other bottled waters (+9.3% after a stability in August), linked to higher prices for mineral and sparkling waters. Over a year, prices for food and beverages accelerated slightly (+2.9% after +2.7%).
Decline in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water and in those of “other industrial products”
The decline in prices for mining and quarrying products, energy, and water deepened over a month (-0.8% after -0.2% in August), linked to prices on wholesale markets: prices in trade services of gas through mains decreased once again (-1.3% after -1.1%) and those of electricity retreated (-0.5% after +0.4% in August). Over a year, prices of mining and quarrying products, energy, and water declined for the twenty-second consecutive month (-5.0% after -3.6%).
Prices of “other industrial products” decreased over a month (-0.3% after a stability in August), driven by the downturn in prices of repair services of machinery (-1.9% after +1.2%). Over a year, they continued to rise (+0.8% as in August).

Virtual stability in prices of electronic equipment and machinery and in those for transport equipment
Prices of electronic equipment and machinery were virtually stable over a month (+0.1% after -0.5% in August). The rebound in prices of electronic components (+1.2% after -4.1% in August and -2.0% in July) was offset by lower prices of loaded electronic boards (-1.1% after -0.2% in August). Over a year, prices of electronic equipment and machinery continued to decline (-0.6% after -0.4% in August).
Prices of transport equipment were once again virtually stable over a month (-0.1% as in August) and continued to rise over a year (+0.8% after +0.9% in August).

FOREIGN MARKETS: -0.7%
In September 2025, industrial producer prices for foreign markets continued to decline over a month (-0.7% after -0.9%). Prices for manufactured products were slightly down once again (-0.2% as in August), while those for mining and quarrying products, energy and water continued to fall strongly, due to the important drop in spot electricity prices on wholesale markets.
Prices for refined petroleum products rebounded in September (+2.0% after -3.6% in August).
Prices for transport equipment continued to decrease over a month (-0.3% as in August). Those for “other industrial products” decreased as well (-0.2% after -0.1% in August), driven by a further drop in prices of other basic organic chemicals (-2.0% after -1.0%).
Prices for food and beverages were once again virtually stable (+0.1% as in August): the rebound in prices of distilled alcoholic beverages (+2.7% after -0.6% in August) was offset by the decline in prices of wine (-0.6% after stability in August).
Finally, prices of electronic equipment and machinery were virtually stable (-0.1% after a stability in August).
Over a year, the fall in industrial producer prices for foreign markets intensified (-2.4% after -2.0% in August).

Import prices of industrial products: -0.2%
In September 2025, the decline in import prices for industrial products slowed down (-0.2% after -0.7%). Prices for manufactured products were virtually stable (+0.1% after -0.5% in August), and those of mining and quarrying products, energy and water continued to fall, following spot electricity prices.
Prices for refined petroleum products rebounded sharply over a month (+2.4% after -4.9% in August). The rise in food and beverages prices accelerated (+0.4% after +0.1% in August), driven by the rebound in those of cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery (+4.4% after -0.5%).
Prices for electronic equipment and machinery declined less strongly than in the previous month (-0.3% after -0.4%), due to a further drop in prices of communication equipment (-2.5% after -1.2%).
Prices of “other industrial products” were virtually stable (-0.1% after -0.3%). The surge in prices of precious metals (+9.2% after +0.1%), in the context of record highs in global gold prices, was offset by the downturn in prices of other basic organic chemicals (-2.1% after +0.2% in August) and by a further drop in essential oil prices (-5.4% after -1.8% in August).
Prices for transport equipment remained stable over a month (as in August).
Over a year, import prices for industrial products continued to fall in September 2025 (-1.8% after -2.1% in August).
