Over a month, manufacturing output fell again in almost all branches
In July 2026*, output declined in almost all major branches of the manufacturing industry, except in coke and refined petroleum products (+8.3% after ‑12.4%). It fell back again in the manufacture of transport equipment (‑2.8% after ‑3.8%) and in the manufacture of “other industrial products” (metallurgy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc.) (‑0.5% after ‑0.5%). Output fell back in the manufacture of electrical, electronic and computer equipment (‑0.8% after +0.2%). It was almost stable in the food and beverage industries (‑0.1% after ‑1.1%).
Output increased again in mining and quarrying, energy, and water supply (+0.9% after +3.2%), and reached its highest level since November 2021. This increase was driven by higher electricity production and consumption during the second heatwave (from 4 to 19 July 2026).

* All data in this publication are seasonally and working days adjusted (SA-WDA). In the commentary, percentage changes by sub-branches are presented, with some exceptions, in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a sub-branch takes into account its weight and the scale of its change.
The methodology used to build and calculate the industrial production index (IPI) is detailed in the “Documentation” tab of this publication.
