In June 2026, the volume of sales in trade rebounded slightly over a month (+0.3%), after a 1.0% decrease in May.
In June 2026, the volume of sales rebounded slightly in trade, driven mainly by wholesale trade and retail trade
In June 2026*, the volume of sales bounced back slightly in wholesale trade except that of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.3% after -1.4% in May). Within this sector, sales picked up notably in wholesale on a fee or contract basis (+1.8% after -1.5%), as well as in the wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+1.0% after -2.1%).
The volume of sales also rebounded in retail trade except that of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.4% after -0.2%). This increase was driven solely by specialised stores (+1.1% after -0.1%), due to the rise in sales in "other goods in specialised stores (pharmacies, clothing shops, shoe shops, etc.)" (+1.3% after +0.1%) and the marked rebound in automotive fuel sales (+3.8% after -2.1%), following the drop in retail fuel prices. Conversely, sales decreased again in non-specialised stores (-0.6% after -0.7%), while the volume in retail trade not in stores contracted (-0.5% after +1.7%).
Lastly, the volume of sales was stable in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (0.0% after -1.1% in May). This stability covers contrasting changes: the further decrease in sales of motor vehicles (-0.5% after -0.6%) was offset by the rebound in sales of motor vehicle parts and accessories (+1.2% after -1.9%).
