In July 2026, consumer prices should increase by 2.1% year on year Consumer price index - provisional results - July 2026
These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 14 August 2026.
Over one year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 2.1% in July 2026, after +1.8% in June, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. This rise in inflation should be explained by an acceleration in service prices, particularly those of accommodation services and communication services, and by that in energy prices driven by the rise in the prices of gas and petroleum products. Over one year, the decline in manufactured product prices should slow down, following a fall in June driven by the first days of sales (compared to none in June 2025, see the note of methodological changes for 2026). Food prices should rise year on year at a similar pace to the previous month.
Over one month, consumer prices should increase by 0.6%, after ‑0.3% in June. This rebound should be explained by the increase in service prices, driven by seasonal increases in the prices of transport and accommodation services. Energy prices should increase, particularly those of gas and petroleum products. Conversely, the prices of manufactured products should decrease over one month due to summer sales. The prices of food should remain almost stable over the month, as should those of tobacco.
Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 2.4% in July 2026, after +2.0% in June. Over one month, it should increase by 0.6%, after ‑0.3% in the previous month.
