In June 2026, consumer prices should increase by 1.8% year on year Consumer price index - provisional results - June 2026
These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 10 July 2026.
Over one year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 1.8% in June 2026, after +2.4% in May, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. This fall in inflation should be explained by the sharp slowdown in prices of energy, mainly in those of petroleum products, which should, however, remain significantly higher than they were a year ago +11.2% after +16.6%). The prices of services should slowdown over a year, but to a lesser extent, as should those of food; the fall in prices of manufactured products should intensified, partly due to calendar effects, the June data collection included more days of the sales period than last year (cf. Methodological note). Those of tobacco should rise over a year at a slightly faster pace than in the previous month.
Over one month, consumer prices should fall by 0.2%, after +0.1% in May. This decrease in prices should be explained by the sharp downturn in those of energy, driven by the prices of petroleum products. Food prices should decrease over one month, as should those of manufactured products. Conversely, the prices of services should rise over one month, as they do every year at this period.
Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 2.0% in June 2026, after +2.8% in May. Over one month, it should decrease by 0.3%, after +0.1% in the previous month.
