In Q1 2026, production costs in construction rose by 1.4% over a quarter and by 2.1%
over a year Costs of production indices in construction - first quarter 2026
In Q1 2026, the production costs in construction rose by 1.4% over a quarter, after +0.1% in the Q4 2025. They rose in building construction (+1.2% after a stability), driven by a rebound in machinery for structural work costs (+0.7% after -1.3%) and in materials costs (+1.9% after -0.6%) and by a sharp acceleration in energy costs (+10.2% after +0.4%). Production costs bounced back in civil engineering (+1.5% after -0.4%): energy costs accelerated sharply (+17.7% after +0.9%) and machinery for public works costs bounced back (+0.4% after -0.6%), as did materials costs (+0.4% after -2.2%). They accelerated in specialised construction works (+1.4% after +0.3%), due to the acceleration in renovation materials costs (+1.9% after +0.1%) and to the rebound in specialised public works materials costs (+1.8% after -0.3%).
Year on year, the production costs in construction accelerated (+2.1% after +1.5% in Q4 2025). They accelerated in building construction (+2.0% after +1.5%), in civil engineering (+0.4% after +0.2%) and in specialised construction works (+2.6% after +1.9%).
