Monthly change: +1.0% in April; year-on-year change: +2.2%
In April 2026, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose again by 1.0% over one month, as in March and after +0.6% in February. This increase was due to the mostly seasonal one in services prices (+1.2% after +0.2%), notably those of transport (+9.1% after stability) and accommodation services (+4.9% after ‑0.8%), and to a further sharp rise in the prices of energy (+4.7% after +8.9%) driven by the prices of petroleum products (diesel, petrol and liquid fuel; +8.2% after +17.1%). The prices of food increased slightly (+0.2% after +0.1%). Prices of manufactured products were stable (after +0.7%) as were those of tobacco (after +0.3%).
Seasonally adjusted, consumer prices increased over a month by 0.7% in April 2026, after +0.8% in March.
Year on year, consumer prices rose by 2.2% in April 2026, after +1.7% in March. This rise in inflation was once again due to the sharp acceleration in prices of energy (+14.3% after +7.4%), particularly those of petroleum products (+31.4% after +18.1%). The prices of services accelerated slightly year on year (+1.8% after +1.7%). Conversely, the prices of food slowed down over one year (+1.2% after +1.8%) and those of manufactured products fell slightly more markedly than in March (‑0.6% after ‑0.5%). The prices of tobacco rose year on year at the same rate as in the previous month (+3.2%).
