In February 2026, consumer prices increased by 1.0% year on year Consumer price index - provisional results - February 2026
These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 13 March 2026.
Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 1.0% in February 2026, after +0.3% in January, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. The increase in inflation should be partly due to a less pronounced decline in prices of energy, driven by a base effect on electricity prices which had fallen sharply in February 2025. The prices of manufactured products should fall at a slower pace than in January. Food prices should accelerate year on year, as should those of services and tobacco.
Over one month, consumer prices should increase by 0.7% in February 2026, after ‑0.3% in January. This rebound in prices should be explained by the rise in services prices, driven by the seasonal rebound in transport services, and by the also seasonal increase in prices of manufactured products, due to the end of clothing and footwear sales. Food prices should increase slightly over one month, as should those of energy and tobacco.
Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 1.1% in February 2026, after +0.4% in January. Over one month, it should rebound by 0.8%, after ‑0.4% in the previous month.
