Over a month, manufacturing output fell back due mainly to the manufacture of transport equipment
In December 2025*, output fell back strongly in the manufacture of transport equipment (-9.9% after +3.8%), particularly in manufacture of other transport equipment (-15.8% after +4.3%) and more specifically in aerospace construction, where the sharp decline in December offset the increases of the previous three months. Output decreased again in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-0.9% after -0.8%).
On the contrary, output bounced back in the “other manufacturing industries (manufacture of basic metals, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, etc.)” (+1.0% after -0.4%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+1.4% after -0.5%). Output increased again in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+0.7% after +1.2%).
In mining and quarrying, energy, water supply, output went down again (-0.2% after -1.7%).

* All data in this publication are seasonally and working days adjusted (SA-WDA). In the commentary, percentage changes by sub-branches are presented, with some exceptions, in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a sub-branch takes into account its weight and the scale of its change.
The methodology used to build and calculate the industrial production index (IPI) is detailed in the “Documentation” tab of this publication.
