In November 2025, the volume of sales in trade decreased over a month (-0.4%), after a virtual stability in October (-0.1%).

In November 2025, wholesale trade sales weighed on overall sales volume

In November 2025*, the decline in the volume of sales in the wholesale trade except that of motor vehicles and motorcycles intensified (-0.8% after -0.3% in October). This decline affected almost all subsectors, but was mainly driven by a marked downturn in “other specialised wholesale (fuels, wood, chemicals, etc.)” (-1.7% after +1.8%), as well as by a further decline in sales of food products, beverages and tabacco (-1.3% after -0.2%).

Sales volumes was virtually stable in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.1% after -0.5%). Within this sector, monthly dynamics were mixed: motor vehicles sales bounced back (+0.5% after -0.4%), while sales of motor vehicle parts and accessories declined again (-0.9% after ‑0.8%).

Lastly, the volume of sales in retail trade except that of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased again, but more moderately (+0.2% after +0.6%). It slowed sharply in specialised stores (+0.2% after +1.0%), despite the faster growth in sales of “other household equipment" (+1.9% after +0.5%). Sales volume also grew again in retail trade not in stores (+0.7% after +1.5%) and rebounded slightly in non specialised stores (+0.2% after -0.4%).

From September to November 2025, the volume of sales increased by 2.0% compared to the same three months a year before

The cumulative volume of sales of the three months under review (September to November 2025) in overall trade was 2.0% higher than that of the same period a year earlier. It rose sharply in wholesale trade (+1.8%) as well as in the retail trade (+2.9%). It also increased, though more moderately, in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.8%).

Within the retail trade, sales increased year on year in specialised stores (+4.0%) in non-specialised stores (+1.2%), as well as in retail trade not in stores (+2.9%).
