In December 2025, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets, and those sold in large and predominantly food stores, were stable over a month, after +0.3% in November.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices of frequently purchased goods were stable over a month, as in November.

Considering all kinds of stores, prices of frequently purchased goods were also stable over a month, after +0.1% in November.

The publication of the price index results in large and predominantly food stores for December 2025 is the last to appear in this format; the release of this dedicated Informations Rapides is discontinued. Starting in January 2026, the frequently purchased goods series will be revised in both scope and methodology. Details of these changes will be provided in the documentation accompanying the base‑year update. The results will be incorporated directly into the Informations Rapides on the price index, final results (next edition on 18 February 2026).

In December 2025, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets, and those sold in large and predominantly food stores, were stable over a month, after +0.3% in November.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices of frequently purchased goods were stable over a month, as in November.

Considering all kinds of stores, prices of frequently purchased goods were also stable over a month, after +0.1% in November.

Year on year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets accelerated slightly

Compared to those of the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets accelerated softly: +1.4% after +1.3% in November. In large and predominantly food stores, prices increased by 1.5% after +1.4% in November.

Excluding hyper and supermarkets, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose over a year at the same rate than in November: +1.9%.

Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods accelerated slightly: +1.6% after +1.5% in the previous month.

Year on year, food prices in hyper and supermarkets rose for the ninth consecutive month

Month on month, the prices of food and beverages (excluding fresh produces) sold in hyper and supermarkets were stable in December 2025, after +0.3% in November. Year on year, these prices accelerated slightly: +1.8% after +1.7% in November; they rose for the ninth consecutive month.

The prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets increased again over one month: +0.4% as in November. Year on year, they rose by 2.4% after +2.3% in November.

The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets fell back by 0.2% over one month after +0.4% in November. Year on year, they rose by 4.9%, after +5.0% as in November.

The prices of “other food products” decreased by 0.1% over a month, after +0.3% in November. Year on year, they rose (+0.4% as in November).

Fall in prices of cleaning and personal care products over one year

Month on month, the prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets fell back slightly by 0.1%, after +0.2% in November. Year on year, they decreased by 1.0%, after ‑1.2% in the previous month.
