Over a month, manufacturing output was carried by the manufacture of transport equipment

In November 2025*, output increased in the manufacture of transport equipment (+2.6% after -0.3%): output bounced back in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (+2.7% after -4.1%) and increased again in the manufacture of other transport equipment (+2.6% after +1.9%). Output bounced back also, but to a lesser extent, in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+1.0% after -2.0%).

On the contrary, output fell back in the “other manufacturing industries (manufacture of basic metals, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, etc.)” (-0.3% after +0.1%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (-0.5% after +0.1%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-0.8% after +3.6%).

In mining and quarrying, energy, water supply, output fell back (-1.9% after +1.9%), mainly due to the downturn in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production (-2.0% after +1.8%)

Over a year, output was up by 1.8% in the whole industry

In the manufacturing industry, cumulative output over the last three months (September to November 2025) was 1.8% higher than that of the same three months of the previous year in the manufacturing industry, as well as in the whole industry.

Over this one-year period, output increased sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (+13.8%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+4.4%). Output increased more modestly in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+1.5%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+0.2%).

On the contrary, it went down in the manufacture of food products and beverages (‑1.7%) and was virtually stable in the “other manufacturing industries (manufacture of basic metals, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, etc.)” (‑0.1%).

Over one month, output decreased by 1.0% in construction

In November 2025, output in construction fell again (‑1.0% after ‑0.7% in October). It fell again in the specialised construction activities (‑0.9% after ‑1.0%) and in the construction of buildings (‑1.0% after ‑1.8%). Output fell back in the civil engineering (‑2.2% after +2.2%).

Cumulative output in the construction over the last three months (September to November 2025) was 2.7% lower than that of the same three months of the previous year.

* All data in this publication are seasonally and working days adjusted (SA-WDA). In the commentary, percentage changes by sub-branches are presented, with some exceptions, in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a sub-branch takes into account its weight and the scale of its change.

The methodology used to build and calculate the industrial production index (IPI) is detailed in the “Documentation” tab of this publication.
