Monthly change: +0.1% in October; year-on-year change: +0.9%
In October 2025, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased slightly by 0.1% over one month, after ‑1.0% in September. This slight rise in prices was primary due to the rebound in prices of services (+0.2% after ‑1.9%) caused by the seasonal increase in those of airfares (+14.7% after ‑27.5%). Prices of manufactured products (+0.2% after +0.4%) also contributed to the overall increase, but to a lesser extent. On the contrary, those of food fell again (‑0.2% as in September), like those of energy (‑0.4% after a stability). Tobacco prices were stable, as in the previous month.
Seasonally adjusted, consumer prices were stable again in October 2025 for the third consecutive month.
Year on year, consumer prices went up by 0.9% in October 2025, after +1.2% in September. This fall in inflation was explained by a sharper decline in those of energy (‑5.6% after ‑4.4%) and a slowdown in those of food (+1.3% after +1.7%). Year on year, prices of manufactured products fell slightly faster than in September (‑0.5 % after ‑0.4%). Those of services rose at the same pace as the previous month (+2.4%), like those of tobacco (+4.1%).
Slight fall in core inflation year on year
Year on year, core inflation stood at +1.2% in October 2025, after +1.3% in September.
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased slightly by 0.1% over one month, after ‑1.1% in September. Year on year, it rose by 0.8%, after +1.0% in September.

Year on year, prices of energy fell by 5.6% in October 2025, after ‑4.4% in September.
Over a year, prices of petroleum products fell back (‑1.1% after +0.2%), in line with those of diesel (‑0.6% after +0.7%). Petrol prices fell at a faster pace than in September (‑1.9% after ‑0.4%).

Prices of electricity fell again at a slightly faster rate than in September (‑13.8 % after ‑13.7%).
Fall in food inflation year on year
Year on year, food prices slowed down (+1.3% after +1.7%).
This decline in food inflation was exclusively due to the downturn in prices of fresh products (‑2.2% after +1.6%), caused by the fall in fresh vegetable prices (‑7.3% after +2.6%). Meanwhile, fresh fruit prices slowed down (+1.7% after +2.4%) and fresh fish prices rose at the same rate as in the previous month (+4.1%).
The inflation of food excluding fresh products rose again slightly (+1.8% after +1.7%). This is mainly explained by the acceleration in prices of milk, cheese and eggs (+0.7% after +0.4%) and in those of meat (+1.9% after +1.8%). Conversely, prices of sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery slowed down over a year (+5.1% after +5.4%), like those of non-alcoholic beverages (+9.3% after +9.5%). Prices of oils and fats decreased faster than in September (‑1.7% after ‑1.2%). Prices of alcoholic beverages rose at the same pace as the previous month (+0.4%).
