Over a month, output bounced back sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment
In September 2025*, output bounced back sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (+5.5% after ‑4.3%), in the wake of aerospace construction, which has been, since June, the sector contributing most to fluctuations in manufacturing industry.
Output bounced back also, but more modestly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+1.2% after ‑0.4%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.4% after -0.4%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+1.2% after -2.6%). On the contrary, output went down again in the “other manufacturing industries (manufacture of basic metals, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, etc.)” (-0.3% after -0.2%). Finally, it remained stable in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (after -0.5%).

* All data in this publication are seasonally and working days adjusted (SA-WDA). In the commentary, percentage changes by sub-branches are presented, with some exceptions, in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a sub-branch takes into account its weight and the scale of its change.
The methodology used to build and calculate the industrial production index (IPI) is detailed in the “Documentation” tab of this publication.
