In September 2025, consumer prices increased by 1.2% year on year Consumer price index - provisional results - September 2025
These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 15 October 2025.
Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 1.2% in September 2025, after +0.9% in August, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. This rise in inflation should be explained by a marked acceleration in service prices, linked to a much less sustained fall in the prices of communication services, and by an acceleration in those of health services. Prices of energy should fall at a slower pace than in the previous month, due to a base effect on petroleum products whose had fallen sharply over one month in September 2024 and should be virtually stable in September 2025. Prices of food and tobacco should accelerate very slightly, while those of manufactured products should fall at a very slightly faster rate than in the previous month.
Over one month, consumer prices should decrease by 1.0% in September 2025, after +0.4% in August. This downturn should be explained by sharp seasonal declines in the prices of transport, particularly airfares, and of accommodation services. To a lesser extent, food prices should fall slightly over the month. Conversely, prices of manufactured products should rise slightly. Those of energy and tobacco should be stable compared with August.
Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 1.1% in September 2025, after +0.8% in August. Over one month, it should decrease by 1.1%, after +0.5% in the previous month.
