Over a month, output fell back strongly in the manufacture of transport equipment
In July 2025*, output fell back automatically in the manufacture of transport equipment (‑10.7%) after a sharp rise in June (+16.3%). The decrease in this sector is mainly due to aerospace construction, following a peak in production in June. Output fell back more modestly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (‑2.2% after +3.9%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (‑1.3% after +0.7%).
On the contrary, output increased again in the “other manufacturing industries (manufacture of basic metals, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry...)” (+1.0% after +0.2%), in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+1.6% after +4.8%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+2.5% after +21.0%).

* All data in this publication are seasonally and working days adjusted (SA-WDA). In the commentary, percentage changes by sub-branches are presented, with some exceptions, in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a sub-branch takes into account its weight and the scale of its change.
The methodology used to build and calculate the industrial production index (IPI) is detailed in the “Documentation” tab of this publication.
