Over a month, output increased strongly in the manufacture of transport equipment
In June 2025*, output increased strongly in the manufacture of transport equipment (+16.6% after +0.3%): this exceptional increase was mainly driven by the manufacture of “other transport equipment (manufacture of aircraft, building of ships, manufacture of railway locomotives...)” (+26.7% after +1.8%), and more precisely in the manufacture of aircraft and spacecraft. It was due to the catching up on the month of delays accumulated on the quarter and the removal of constraints on supply chain for some companies in this sector.
Output accelerated sharply in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+5.0% after +1.7%) and has returned to almost its February level after a fall in recent months. It bounced back sharply in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+4.2% after ‑1.0%) and more strongly in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+21.2% after ‑7.2%) where activity has returned to normal levels after planned maintenance shutdowns in refineries between March and May. Output bounced back more moderately in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.8% after ‑0.9%) and it was almost stable in the “other manufacturing industries (manufacture of basic metals, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry...)” (+0.1% after ‑1.4%)

* All data in this publication are seasonally and working days adjusted (SA-WDA). In the commentary, percentage changes by sub-branches are presented, with some exceptions, in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a sub-branch takes into account its weight and the scale of its change.
The methodology used to build and calculate the industrial production index (IPI) is detailed in the “Documentation” tab of this publication.
